Located on the East Coast of the Baja California Sur Peninsula, two hours away from San José del Cabo, Cabo Pulmo is a Protected Natural Area designated a World Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO, one of the most important achievements of ocean conservation and the only hard coral reef area in the Gulf of California. The reef of the Cabo Pulmo National Park is considered a treasure of the Baja California Sur Peninsula, it is around 20,000 years old and has more than 300 species of fish, hence its nickname as “The Aquarium of the World”. It has become a world famous place for diving and snorkeling, with instructors of the highest level. The aquatic activities that take place in this area provide a close look at its incredible underwater ecosystem as it is home to the largest and most diverse coral reefs in North America, which provide a safe haven for more than 800 species of marine life in the Sea of Cuts. In Cabo Pulmo are five of the seven species of sea turtles that are in danger of extinction in the world, as well as one of the largest collections of sharks, including bull sharks, tiger sharks, hammer sharks, blacktip and white sharks.
