La Purisima

La Purisima was founded by the Jesuits in the 18th century, by the missionary Francisco María Piccolo and five years later it would be under the charge of the priest Nicolás Tamaral, who was the driving force behind the creation of orchards. Today these orchards produce grapes for wine, figs, oranges, beans and dates. It is located on the Transpeninsular Highway No. 1, 2 hours from Ciudad Constitución. It has beautiful landscapes, a quiet spring, palm trees and abundant trees. Its tranquil springs are ideal for kayaking and paddleboaring. In the cemetery of La Purisima there are tombs of more than 300 years old, as a curious fact, its inhabitants used to live more than 100 years. Surrounded by hills, where El Pilon stands out, the Jesuit fathers saw in its figure the Virgin Mary, for them this was a divine message that indicated that they should build the mission in this place.
