The site of KadaKaamán in the Arroyo El Carrizal and Sierra de San Ignacio was select by the missionary Francisco María Píccolo and is located in the town of the same name in the northern part of the state. The mission was founded and financied by the Mexican Jesuit Father Juan Bautista Luyando in 1728; the construction of the church was begun by Father Fernando Consag and was finished by the Dominican missionary Fray Juan Crisóstomo Gómez about 1786.
