1. Magdalena Bay Whale Watching
Magdalena Bay is recognized worldwide as a natural refuge especially for the gray whale. Every year during the winter months (mid JAN – mid MAR), thousands of gray whales migrate from Alaska to this quiet bay to give birth.

2. San José de Comondú Mission
Located in the oasis of the town of San José de Comondú, the mission of the same name was estalished by the Jesuit Fathers Juan María de Salvatierra, Juan de Ugarte, an Julián Mayorga in 1708. The construction of the church was begun by the Austrian Jesuit Franz Inama in 1705, and comprised a large structure of three naves. It was abandoned in 1827, and early in this century was largely demolished to construct a school. In 1972-1973 the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia carried out restoration, particulary of the vaulted central roof and details on the stone walls. Visit San José de Comondú Mission
3. La Purisima
La Purisima was founded by the Jesuits in the 18th century, by the missionary Francisco María Piccolo and five years later it would be under the charge of the priest Nicolás Tamaral, who was the driving force behind the creation of orchards. Today these orchards produce grapes for wine, figs, oranges, beans and dates. It is located on the Transpeninsular Highway No. 1, 2 hours from Ciudad Constitución. It has beautiful landscapes, a quiet spring, palm trees and abundant trees. Its tranquil springs are ideal for kayaking and paddleboaring. In the cemetery of La Purisima there are tombs of more than 300 years old, as a curious fact, its inhabitants used to live more than 100 years. Surrounded by hills, where El Pilon stands out, the Jesuit fathers saw in its figure the Virgin Mary, for them this was a divine message that indicated that they should build the mission in this place. Even though most of the visitors of the Magdalena Bay come to see the amazing gray whales, there’s also other type of explorers that come to this destination seeking to explore the great diversity of birds that fly in the amazingly blue sky of the bay. This is an activity that you can perform the 365 days of the year. Due to the fact that three different ecosystems are combined in here, such as the mangrove forest, dunes and mountains, this is the perfect spot for having a great array of bird life throughout the year. The diversity is such that the BirdLife International Association has called this place an Important Area for Birds Conservation. During your long strolls you will be able to watch beautiful examples of fishing eagles, different sorts of migratory birds, white ibis, blue heron or hawks just to mention but a few. 11. San Luis Gonzaga Chiriyaqui Mission
The site of the mission was located by Father Clemente Guillén in 1721 and was established first as a visita in 1737, and later as a mission, in 1740, by Father Lambert Hostell. Father Johann Jacob Baegert replaced Hostell in 1750 and ir was he who built the church. The mission is located in the Valley of Santo Domingo in the place called San Luis Gonzaga aproximately 45 kilometers to the southeast of Ciudad Constitución; access is somewhat difficult via graded roads, sometimes in bad repair. The area around the church is made up of some others buildings, onde in complete decay, and the others of great value as historical architectural monuments, but they are from the nineteenth century and do not correspond to the period of the mission.
